Ethiopia (Organic)

Express Coffee Ethiopia is an organic, natural-process Ethiopian arabica from the Guji region, with notes of blueberry, tropical fruit, hibiscus, honey, vanilla, and yuzu. These organic Ethiopian coffee beans are fresh roasted to order in small batches by our Michigan roastery in light, medium, or dark roast.

This coffee kicks it into gear starting with light roast! If you love bright, tropical flavors in your coffee, this is the one for you.

The coffee

• Bean: Organic arabica, Guji Dimtu Tora G1 Natural
• Region: Guji, Ethiopia
• Process: Natural (leaving the coffee fruit on the beans while drying). This adds hints of blueberry, tropical fruit, hibiscus, honey, vanilla, and yuzu to this beautiful bean.

Tasting notes

Blueberry, tropical fruit, hibiscus, honey, vanilla, and yuzu. We suggest light to medium roast with this origin if you want to keep the complexity in the cup. We won't stop you from enjoying a nice dark roast, though!

• Light roast: Often described as tea-like, and truly a unique treat. Bright blueberry, tropical fruit, yuzu, and hibiscus lead the way.
• Medium roast: A well-rounded cup that balances the richer honey and vanilla notes with the natural blueberry and tropical fruit.
• Dark roast: Not recommended, but always allowed! The fruit steps back for a more typical roasted coffee flavor, with honey and vanilla hanging on. If you like dark, roasty coffee, go for it!

Roasted on a fluid bed roaster

We roast every batch on a fluid bed (hot-air) roaster, which uses a stream of hot air to roast the beans evenly. This helps minimize bitterness and bring out more of the coffee's natural sweetness. We roast to order, so your coffee is fresh roasted when you order it.

How to brew it

• Cold brew: If you've never tried cold brew, try this coffee as a medium roast with the extra coarse cold brew grind. It's an extremely refreshing way to get your caffeine fix!
• Pour-over: Light or medium roast in a pour-over really lets the fruit and florals shine.
• Drip: Medium roast makes a well-rounded everyday cup.
